There are many digital resources available to KPBSD staff and students. These resources are provided by the District, the Alaska Library Network, and the Alaska State Department of Educational Technology.
Discovery Education– Includes resources for students, teachers, and parents. This resource is especially rich in video and images. Discovery Education has moved to Single Sign On (SSO) for access to DE. It is important that users access through the KPBSD Discovery Education portal.
Discovery Education is also fully integrated in Canvas.
World Book Online – Includes access to the following: World Book Kids, World Book Student,World Book Advanced, World Book Discover, Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos, Gran Enciclopedia Hispa´nica, L’Encyclope´die De´couverte, Living Green, Early Peoples, Inventions and Discoveries, and Dramatic Learning. E-books were added Fall 2018. NEW to the World Book Suite of Products are Timelines and Early World of Learning.

Live Homework Help – Provides online tutoring, homework help and test preparation in math, science, English and social studies. Open daily to Alaskan residents daily from 12:00 noon – 2:00 am. It is not necessary to create a Tutor.com account to use this resource. Simply answer a few easy questions and get connected to a live tutor.
BrainPop Jr. (K-3) and BrainPop – Award winning online resources whose animated curricular content engages students, supports educators, and bolsters achievement. Three versions are available as well as free teacher resources.
Alaska’s Digital Archive – This resource presents a wealth of historical photographs, albums, oral histories, moving images, maps, documents, physical objects, and other materials from libraries, museums and archives throughout the state of Alaska.
Novelist K-8 and Novelist – Excellent reader’s advisory tool. Find lists of books to read, author information, book talks, what to read next and much more.
Academic Search Premier – Academic Search Premier is an excellent source of scholarly journals in all academic disciplines. More than 8,000 journals are indexed and full text is provided for more than 4,500 of them. Most are peer reviewed and citation information is included.
Learning Express – Want to get into the right college for you? LearningExpress is great for students, or anyone, who want to improve computer, job, or study skills. Find tutorials, study guides, practice tests, videos, and ebooks, and much more! Includes test prep for ACT, SAT, AP tests and more.
Student Resources in Context – This unique portal provides stellar support for papers, projects and presentations that reinforce development of 21st century skills like critical thinking and problem solving; communication; collaboration; and creativity and innovation. Cross-curricular content is aligned to Common Core State Standards, and presents that material in the manner most useful for students.
